Top issues during term (8)(General)
Data center moratorium request
Residents warn large data centers could strain city water, power, and infrastructure resources before protections are in place.
law enforcement staffing
New hires add payroll costs, while the two resignations offset some of that expense.
City Manager Transition
No immediate dollar impact is tied to the appointment itself, but his budget choices will eventually affect what Beloit funds and what residents pay for.
staffing shortages
Expect pressure on the city budget from overtime, recruiting, and training costs—or delayed projects if Beloit can’t fill roles.
city manager contract
The contract’s salary, benefits, and severance terms could hit Beloit’s budget, though the source doesn’t list specific dollar amounts.
data center project opposition
The tax math is the big unknown—data centers can add revenue, but residents worry they’ll also drive up infrastructure or service costs.
public comment restrictions
There’s no big price tag here—mostly staff time and meeting management, not a new tax or fee.
government transparency policy
There’s no direct cost attached, but expect possible delays in data-center negotiations and more scrutiny of any tax breaks or public spending tied to those deals.
