The applicants' agent argued the 1990s-era mapped road no longer makes sense, that developers — not the city — bear road costs, that the neighboring owner won't develop, and that the ATC power line easement makes much of the hoped-for lot yield unbuildable.

A resident asked how removing this road segment would affect the western extension of Durham Road toward Cathy Lane.

The District 1 alderperson argued the neighborhood supports the request, the other affected owner hasn't objected, and it would be a shame to block a home on land meant for housing.
