Short-term rental code amendments

The District 12 alderperson described three large party houses in her district with constant turnover of 20 people and cars everywhere all summer. She asked the commission to cap STR parking at the number of driveway spots, require occupancy on the application, and notify neighbors when a new STR opens nearby.

A short-term rental property manager and alliance leader thanked staff for working with the alliance and endorsed the amendments as fair and actionable, saying parking and occupancy limits would not be deal breakers for responsible operators.
