4 issues in roads
Wright Road extension and area road sequencing
A vacant 1.15-acre commercial lot was assessed at $402,300 after losing its agricultural classification, but the assessor conceded it was placed in the wrong assessment neighborhood. With corrections and discounts for shape, missing utilities, and access, the value drops to $152,100. The outcome shows how neighborhood classification and infrastructure gaps directly shape what owners pay.
2025-2030 Transportation Improvement Program amendment
The TIP is the region's multi-year funding list for road, transit, and other transportation projects. An amendment could change which Janesville-area projects are scheduled and funded with federal dollars in the coming years.
Anthony Avenue paving and special assessments
The city's last gravel residential through street will finally be paved, with $157,000 of the cost assessed to the six neighboring property owners. One resident objected that the street has been gravel since 1979.
2026 Street Rehabilitation Program
About 10.3 miles of Janesville streets get fixed this year between the city and DOT. The awarded contract fully reconstructs 48% of streets and resurfaces the rest.
