YMCA Funding Dispute and Process Breakdown
The council debated whether to formally explore sharing facilities with the YMCA and schools — including possibly a Veterans Park swap for the Y's Wells Street site. Critics said the Y is mid-land-negotiation on Edwards Boulevard, surveys aren't done, and no one had consulted the Y. The proposal failed 3-5.
Hillmoor consultant funding increase
Staff recommends raising the Hillmoor consultant from $36,000 to $48,000 (a 25% increase). Ald. Hoiland questioned whether the consultant is still needed now that the city has a parks director, but Stoodley and Yager defended the consultant's work on zones two through five.
